ORKA : LIVE MUSIC

An electronic set not to be missed, you’ll find no laptop onstage, just a fully hardware set up with an emphasis on ‘liveness’ in the set. Electronic yes, but all beats are played and samples triggered live as well as using some homemade electronic instruments. Prepare yourself for an intense experience.

L’AUBAINE : VJ
00.45 – 01.30

Accompanying Orka with organic, graphical, painterly and mainly abstract visuals, L’Aubaine’s work has a handmade feel, imperfect, bold and very colourful like a painter with a canvas, but creating live compositions for her VJ set. Her clips are mostly 2D hand-drawn animations, simple shapes and paintings, often braking out of the rectangular screen with mapped compositions and the use of mesh, she also often uses an analogue video synth to create textures and lines.

REEPS ONE : VOCAL VIBRATION & CYMATICS SHOWCASE
00.00 – 00.30

Reeps One is award-winning musician, artist, champion beatboxer and Londoner Harry Yeff. He’s collaborated with Damon Albarn, The Mill and Bell Labs focusing on taking the human voice to extremes and pairing it with new technology. For Splice, Reeps One performs his critically acclaimed AV show featuring the cymatic images of Zach Walker. Cymatics is the science of sound vibration to make audio visible through vibrating a diaphragm or membrane covered with liquid or small particles, here they reveal the structure of sound through the vibrations of the voice. Yeff and Walker’s fascination for sound, vibratory tones and making them visible is a show not to be missed.

MATTHEW HERBERT : AV PERFORMANCE
23.25 – 23.45

In a new audio-visual project in response to Brexit, pioneering electronic musician Matthew Herbert presents an exclusive commission for Splice in collaboration with media artist Christopher Thomas Allen (The Light Surgeons).

The performance will examine the things we will lose as a result of Brexit and it’s impact, by exploring the themes of scale and destruction through the medium of sound and image. The resulting outcome will form the basis for one of the tracks on the Brexit Big Band album, scheduled for release in 2019 on the day Britain officially leaves the EU.

AMELIE DUCHOW : TONSTITCH
22.30 – 23.05

Tonstitch is an audiovisual project based on the creation of a ‘sonorous’ dress. Basic sound parameters relate directly to the dresses construction in the X and Y axis and the characteristics of the shape, the fit and look of this imaginary dress are determined by the audio composition. Following the strict manufacturing schedule of each production unit the dress is initially modelled by the industrial production process. An individual sonorous experience, the audio material used for the composition is authentic sound recordings from industrial manufacturing facilities of garments and textiles.

North London native Loraine James is an up-and-coming producer and electronic artist, very much influenced by artists such as Aoki Takamasa, Telefon Tel Aviv and Toe.
