Polish duo Comfort Zones, comprising visual artist Bartłomiej Szlachcic and musician Paweł Galecki explore the mysterious landscapes of internal sensations. Bartłomiej Szlachcic is an award winning visual artist who works firmly in both the analogue world and the digital domain, such as combining hand drawings with particle simulations. As a VJ he’s been active for over a decade under the name Odaibe, performing at countless festivals across Europe. In 2015 he won the top award at Polish broadcaster UPC’s first ever Digital Art Contest for his film ‘Morphogenesis’, picking up a special prize from Platige Image, the internationally renowned Polish production and animation studio. His colleague Paweł Galecki is a psychologist and musician with jazz background who says he’s “bored with both reanimating the past and chasing what’s ahead” and that he’s looking for impressions not necessarily just from one dimension’s time continuum!
They describe their project as “an audiovisual poem for analog dreamers, spatial symbiosis of photons floating on the waves in a neurochemical synaptic dance”. Familiar shapes will morph into statues of biological time where warm drones spread in canyon like veins. The artists will liberate ideas through streams of organic after-images and moody vibrations. As they conclude, “it’s a marriage of honest expression and care for the receiver”
