Winners of the The Smirnoff Winter Pride Art Awards 2014, London’s alternative performance awards, Kimatica are a multidisciplinary studio exploring the intersection of the human body, live performance and technology. Excited by the fusion of primitive physicality and contempoary interactive tech, Kimatica’s performances are often inspired by ceremony, ritual and the overlapping of physical and virtual layers to create deeply rich, augmented realities. Their work has toured internationally, including exhibitions at the Tate, the Barbican Centre, Reina Sofia Museum and at both the Stockholm Fringe Festival and Kinetica Art Fair.
‘Transcendence’ is a research-based performance that takes the audience on a journey to the edges of human perception and consciousness. Combining scientific, anthropological and psychological research with visual arts, interactive technology and live performance, the project explores how to create an immersive experience that activates an altered state of consciousness within in the audience; the ultimate goal being to open a way in to the subconscious mind and inspire reconnection with magical thinking and the spiritual world.
